Norman MacInnis Biography

Past President and Clan Historian: Norman MacInnis

Norman grew up in Newton MA and joined the Air Force after high school. After service he completed his education and subsequently began his career in electronics. Norman lives in Sharon MA. He have four grown children and three wonderful grandchildren.

Norman was president of the MacInnis Company, an electronics company on the Route 128 Hi Tech Highway that encircles Boston. The company celebrated its twentieth successful year in business in 2001. Norman has served this industry as President of the New England chapter of the Electronics Representatives Association and in 1999 was appointed Chairman of the ERA Management Conference. In 2000 he was elected President of the Electronic Distribution Show, the oldest industry sponsored trade show in Las Vegas. Norman currently serves as vice chair of the ERA Insurance Trust.

Norman’s hobbies are book collecting particularly Scottish and American history and genealogy. They have explored the Highlands area of Scotland several times and try to spend some time in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, every year.

The Maritimes of eastern Canada contain his family roots. The progenitor of his family in North America was Hugh Angus MacInnis. His relocation from Arisaig, Scotland, to Arisaig, Nova Scotia, was in 1790 during the Clanranald Highland Clearances. Norman also have Gillis and MacDonald ancestors going back to Good John, Lord of the Isles.

Norman has served as Commissioner of the North Atlantic region for the Clan MacInnes Society and past President of the International Assocation of Clan MacInnes.
