Treasurer and Advisory Board: John McInnis
John was born in San Francisco, CA, raised in Moore Co., NC, Memphis TN and in Oklahoma City OK. He has a brother in Sapulpa OK and two sisters in Norman and Newcastle OK.
John graduated from Oklahoma City University in 1966 with a degree in Biology. He then attended the University of Oklahoma for two years majoring in Zoology but received no degree. He married Kathy Kendall from Oklahoma City in 1968. He served in the US Army from 1969-1972.
John and Kathy moved to Carbondale IL in 1972 to develop a hospital electroencephalography (EEG) lab and soon set up his own EEG business there. His two sons were born there, Mike in 1974 and David in 1976. John earned his Masters in Business Administration at Southern Illinois University- Carbondale in 1980. He joined Southwestern Bell in 1981working mostly in Regulatory Accounting and Municipal Affairs before retiring in 2000.
John was involved with the Boy Scouts from 1985 to 2010 and was a Scoutmaster for 13 years. He served as the local Scout District Chairman for two terms. He was a Scoutmaster at the 2005 National Jamboree and also was an adult leadership and advanced outdoor skills trainer for Scout Leaders for over 20 years.
John was elected to the Arlington TX school board in 1988, served as President in 1992-94 and retired from the Board in 2004. Elected to the Texas Association of School Boards in 1993, John served as its President in 1999-2000. During that time, he was on the board of the Texas Business & Education Coalition and helped organize the Border States Coalition on Education.
He served as Southwest Regional Commissioner for Clan MacInnes from 1990 through 2018 and represented the Clan at over 60 games in Texas, Colorado and elsewhere. He served on the Texas Scottish Festival & Highland Games Committee as the Awards Chairman and Local Government Liaison. He was elected as IACM Director-Member Services in 2002 and VP-Operations in 2006, then served as President (2010-2018) and Treasurer (2018-current).
Kathy is a retired Spanish teacher. Mike is a physician living in Mansfield TX and David is a youth minister in Lawton, OK. John and Kathy have three grandchildren living nearby in Mansfield.
